Junk email or spam is a problem for everyone who uses email. The amount of Spam increases daily, and so does the cost for every email provider and user who has to deal with the mess.
What is HiWAAY doing about spam?
HiWAAY's AnteSpam blocks over 145,000,000 (that's 145 million!) spam emails sent to @hiwaay.net addresses every month.
HiWAAY considers spam much more than just an annoyance so we are always working on ways to help HiWAAY customers deal with the problem. In November 2008 we upgraded to AnteSpam spam-filtering services for our @hiwaay.net email customers.
We did this free upgrade to help our customers deal with the floods of spam email.
HiWAAY protects your privacy.
HiWAAY has had a long-standing policy of keeping your username private. HiWAAY does not give away or sell its customers' usernames. Read HiWAAY's Anti-spam Policy and our Privacy Policy for more specific information.

About Email Virus Filtering
Security and virus issues continue to threaten every email user. Dealing with the havoc caused by malicious software, also known as malware, is not only frustrating, but can also costly in both time and money. With so many different malware issues, it's important to protect yourself.
What is HiWAAY doing to help protect our customers from email viruses and worms?
HiWAAY provides free AnteSpam email virus filtering for all @hiwaay.net email account.
Although no email virus filtering service is 100 percent effective, AnteSpam can stop most infected emails from ever reaching your computer and causing damage to computer files and networks.
How does email virus filtering work?
AnteSpam scans all incoming email messages to our @hiwaay.net email customers. If it detects an infected message, it will completely remove the email. It also detects scam email known phishing and deletes these messages attempting to steal your personal information.
Is this all the virus protection you need?
No. One hundred percent filtering can't be guaranteed. AnteSpam email virus filtering is NOT a replacement for anti-virus/anti-spyware software on your computer. HiWAAY's AnteSpam is your first line of defense against email malware. Anti-virus software installed on your PC protects you from far more threats than malware infected email. HiWAAY recommends that all our customers always run up-to-date anti-virus/anti-spyware software on all vulnerable computers connected to the Internet.
Can you choose to opt out of virus filtering?
AnteSpam email filtering is optional for all hiwaay.net customers. To opt out, call HiWAAY Technical Support and they will opt out your email address. You can also opt back in by calling HiWAAY Technical Support.
